Ancillary Text Research - Kings of Leon Album

The promotional poster for 'Aha Shake Heartbreak' uses the exact same image as the digipak for the album its self this is so that its familiar and recognisable to the audience when it comes to promoting the CD enticing more people to buy it. The image looks to be petals of a flower opening this could be seen as connotations of the bands album being fresh and new as well as opening up another side to the bands music. The contrast of the white to the black stand out to the audience hugely attracting them into reading the poster and wondering who it is about this is also common of the abstract picture which gets the consumer questioning the product.

The name of the band is planted right at the top on the poster in thin white capital letters which stand out instantly. The writing looks to be on top of a grey sky or clouds as it seems this could be seen as the band are currently flying high with their music and are happy with the music they have made for the album. Placing their name at the top of the poster shows instant attraction the poster as they are a very well known band and gives the consumers a sense of happiness when seeing their names if they are big fans etc.

The white writing at the bottom of the text continues the theme of standing out to a consumer which seems to be reoccurring with bands using jet black background and bright white writing to stand out. This allows the information to be more effective and show clearly the album name and when the release date is of the album.

In small print right at the bottom of the poster in the website of the band, little things like this just further advertise the band and when they visit the website they will have more chance of the consumers buying merchandise and other EP or single releases, maybe even tour tickets. I feel like a website definitely needs to be included in promotional work as it further advertises your artist and band allowing for more money opportunities.
