My ancillary text research - Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare
On the outside of the digipak we can see the picture of a house or what looks to be a row of houses stretched across the three panels. The name of the band and the title of the album are placed in the top left hand corner in bright yellow this stands out to the grim and dark colours of the album. The use of the yellow colours is a form of continuity throughout the outside of the album cover. The use of the colour inside the houses attracts us into the little windows this could be seen as connotations of the nightmares happening as we have nightmares and dreams when asleep in rooms of the houses. I like how they have played around connecting the title to the images on the front of the cover. The dark colours used connote the stereotypes of the genre Arctic Monkeys fit into such as rebels, crazy, mysterious and edgy. There is also a barcode displayed at the back, which is the middle panel, on the bottom left hand side and next to it is the institution who made the Cd and the labels name as well as the website.
The inside of the cover seems to be more colourful which you would think would be on the outside so that it attracts consumers when sat on the shelves of shops. However with Arctic Monkeys being a very popular band they may feel like this isn't appropriate and would not fit in with the genre of the music if to many bright colours were used. The CD is a dirty green colour with an image in the middle, the image is abstract which is another use of indie rock bands, they use more abstract images to stand out and sometimes show themselves through the abstract image.
