Trying out iMovie

Above you will find a minute long video I put together of images and moving image on iMovie. I was getting to grips with iMovie to see if this would be the editing technology I would like to use when it comes to putting together my music video. Through the use of tutorials I was able to use transitions, effects, include pictures to moving image and get to grips with editing its self. I would not use some of the transitions and adding pictures to my music video like this but it helped me learn the basics. I feel it was a very straight forward program and could possibly use this for advertising my music video when it comes to putting together quick videos. However I feel Final Cut Pro may be the program for me as I feel it is far more advanced and will allow me to create the effects and transitions suitable for my genre when it comes to my music video.

Friends thoughts and feedback on the video

Some of the tutorials I used are below!

Planning for filming day 2

On Saturday 11th January 2014 I have planned to film my main actor Jack. Due to Jack being my main actor in my music video and the time restrictions we have to film on the day I will only be able to film him in one location and possibly not all shots of that location. I have devised together a plan of which shots I would like to get done. These shots are all at the Hessle foreshore/Humber Bridge location. These include a range of shots from shot number 3 to 91.

Once again I looked up the weather for the day of filming to make sure we was going to have dry weather enabling us to go forward with filming. As the weather was only going to be 7 celsius at its highest I wanted to be able to inform jack of the cold weather and let him know to be warm and comfortable but still keeping in the genre of the music video. I will also let him know that I will buy him a hot drink and food after filming.

Making sure Jack knows what is expected of the day

I made sure Jack was up to date with what was going on and what is expected of him on the day allowing him to know when and where I need him to be with everything. Making sure Jack is informed will allow filming to flow easily with less complications.

Test Shots - Pans, Tilts and more 8/01/12

On the 8th of January I was able to go visit to my two locations, an industrial part of Hull and the surrounding areas of Hessle Foreshore. This gave me the chance to edit and mess around putting together a video on Final Cut Pro, getting to know what tools were what and how to use them. However in the video about I forgot to mute the background sound so that you could only hear the song playing which is a mistake I can learn from when it comes to my music video. The footage above is handheld camera movements where as I will have a tripod available when it comes to shooting my  music video.

Planning for Filming Day 1

On shooting day one, scheduled for the 10/01/14, I will be working with Mell, my main girl character. I will be filming all shots that involve her being alone as I cannot work with my main boy and girl together due to Jack working during the day. I have devised together a list of all the shots I will be shooting in two different locations which should take up to an hour in the first location (Industrial) and half an hour in the second location (Hessle Foreshore).

My first shoot is planned for Friday 10th of January between the hours of half 11 and half 2 this is because I do not expect or want my actress to be outside in the cold for a long period of time. I also do not want to clash with the sun setting and not being able to get everything i want done with it getting dark. Therefore I looked up the weather as part of my planning and sun rise and set times. As you can see below the best time to film is over lunch as it will be the warm part of the day and with a little sunshine.

I am a qualified driver therefore getting to and from the locations will be no problem for me and my actress. I have offered to drive and told her to make sure she has ate before the shoot as we will be working over lunch time and then I will take her to Costa to warm up afterwards as a thank-you for taking time out her day. Hopefully I will have around 20 seconds of footage to begin with

I will also be taking pictures throughout the day to gain ideas for my digipak and poster as well as location shots for the beginning of my music video.
